Tejas Patel in his NDTV article is well written. This needs to be acknowledged first before focusing on the aspects that I disagree with as below:
He asked: ”Since the inception of the UPA government, why has there been not a single public demand to extradite ...?”
If you are talking about Public Demand, why would you leave out the previous governments that preceded the UPA government ? The question ought to be ”Why has not there been a sufficient demand to extradite all these 16 years?” And why would you talk about Public Demand as it it were singularly the ruling Government’s responsibility?
Public Demand ought to come from the Public and the voice of the Public - more in an Indian context – comes from the journalists. Why did you slow down? Why did you tolerate delays in investigations or commission reports? Why do you push large and sensitive issues such as this to back pages after a while ?
You are the ones I would blame for complacence. You kept quiet. (You are so used to the habit of dropping stories when delays are perpetrated. It has been, and it is, so easy to handle you. All that one has to do is to let you scream and shout for a few days with definite knowledge that you will run out of steam.)
He said ... ”But despite these arguments, majority of the political leaders from almost all the parties do not have the desire to seek the truth.”
Are you saying that it ought to be someone else’s desire to seek the truth? You demand, investigate, analyze, or do anything to find out and tell me. You haven’t told me who killed Kennedy. You haven’t told me really why Indira Gandhi was assassinated.... I see the world through your eyes....You tell me the truth. Truth is your business. Otherwise I will lose faith in you.
