We were simply an immature nation with no real-world understanding of international politics. And being a nation of dreamers and idealists, we thought that intellect to could win battles.
Unfortunately, you cannot engage in an intellectual exchange with a superior power and claim parity unless you prove that if the need be you could hold out a credible threat.
And we messed it up big time. Let’s not blame Nehru, for he was gentleman and could not understood the intricacies of the brutal dog-eat-dog world that we lived in then and live in even now.

True. Nehru was too naive a leader to lead the nation during a war.

Wow, we had Indo-China war as part of the syllabus this year in college, but i never paid a lot of attention to this, but man! this is interesting! i loved reading this...i wish i had read this during college as well, would have got a few extra marks :( anyways, it was still a pleasure to read it :)
